996 Owning PHers
Discussion
996 Targa two-wheel drive, 2002 model. Targas are at present only available as 2-wheel-drive cars. Arctic silver. Tiptronic. Stick shift is nicer, but then, doing 50-60k miles p.a. I kit my cars out for practicality.
Hi, Steve. Great minds think alike. I too have a Mondeo for the more boring motoring, and a Renault Twingo for my wife. Twingo very good, Mondeo is pound for pound one of the best cars I've ever had.

Ive got a C2 coupe year.00
Arctic Silver, black leather, 18 " alloys
and 30 mm lowered Techart springs.
Had a 911 since 1994.
Started with a b reg 3.2 targa,
went to a 993 c2
and got the 996 in 2000 .6 months old
Looking into getting a Fabspeed exhaust...
Regarding the FAbspeed exhaust....
Is it possible to fit it yourself.??.because I heard a few of the U.S. users do. If not how much was it to install.
SHould not invalidate the warranty, in the U.S. apparently the FAbspeed system doesnt invalidate it over there.
I suppose it should be possible to get an Official Porsche centre to fit one. (After all they fitted my Tech Art lowering kit)

superlightr said: Same as WalterU, 2002 Targa silver outside and black inside, manual, heated seats (a must) Bose and 18 spoky wheels sports 2 or something.![]()
Love it.
AHHH, my man. Mine's exactly the same, but SatNav (I need it) and Tiptornic. I miss stick-shift when I go out for a joy-ride, but on business I appreciate it. McNab gave me a lot of advice when it came to the choice of manual or Tiptronic. He's a helluva guy too!!!
As a Targa a 911 becomes a surprisingly practical business tool with an astonishing luggage capacity.

Steve,
I've got a 2000 model Metallic Black LHD C2, Black leather, 18" Sport Design alloys, PSM, PCM, Sports steering wheel, heated seats, climate & sunroof. Owned since Feb 02.
I was surprised by how much quicker it was than my previous 993.

98 model, C2tip in ocean/savannah, too many toys to list ( originally specc'd by Porsche Cars GB ), replaced a similar 993. Absolutely bloody marvellous, just about does everything apart from lugging 4 people around. I've put 40k miles on it, so am not bothered by the resale value dropping off a cliff, just as well as its now worth only a bit more than the 94 model 993 I chopped in for it. Serviced about once/year by local OPC, no nasty surprises yet. got through 1 set front discs plus full set pads plus 'a few' sets of 18inch conti's..obviously not driving it hard enough but that reflects UK traffic conditions.
Said I'd write when I'd done the test drive, just got back from 45 minutes in quite categorically the best car I've ever driven. It was a 2000X 996 C2 coupe on 18", no TC or PSM but in every other respect fantastic. I'm smitten. No time to write more, will post my full writeup tonight.
