alarm

when i press the alarm fob on my key my car is bleeping in the way that suggests a doors open etc, but their all closed, as is the boot/ bonnet and windows. unfortunatley this means that the alarm keeps going off every few minutes. and my enighbours are getting ready to kill me now.

anyone had anything similar happen to them or know of a fix? failing that, anyone know of a way of locking the car without alarming or turning the alarm off? ive tried just locking it with the key but thats just alarming the car too.

Centre arm rest cubby hole not shut properly perhaps or have you changed audio equipment recently.

centre pocket thing is shut, and i have had the stereo out but its the same one thats gone back in. have i disconnected/ not replaced something correctly then? is there something i need to cover?

Whic system is it. Best thing is to trace it back to the manufactuer I found when mine went wrong.

If its PA1000 or 2000 then I can dig out the details

I don't know if this works with a 996, but on the 993 I can go round to the passenger door, flip the central locking switch and then close the door and it locks the car without setting the alarm.

Note to self: ensure that key is in pocket not the car before closing the door

i dont know. where would i find that? its a 1999 c4 996 if that means anything to you.

It could well be the moving of the radio that has disturbed the security strip. Did the alarm problem coincide with having the radio out?
There is a fix on Renn Tech which is used when you put an aftermarket radio in. It's very simple but I can't remember what it is. Linky thingy below and do a search for radio security or similar.

Mine had the number written on the fob I think. Most 993s had PA1000 or pa2000 i think, these not sure about 996. Hamilton and Palmer put them in and were v helpful when mine went on the blink. If you give them a ring and describe the fob they might be able to help
