So is Chris Harris selling his 993 GT2 then?

Am I right in thinking that Chris Harris is selling his RHD silver 993 GT2? Did Paul (clubsport) say that he'd seen an ad for it somewhere?

If so, why? I always thought that this car fanatic thing that we all have is all about building towards your dream car, or else one that is the very best (according to your taste) that you can afford.

Which makes me wonder, what on earth is Chris Harris doing? In my view, you can only trump the 993 GT2 with a Mac F1 or Carrera GT. Both cost a fair bit more at the moment.

I suppose he could be going for a 993 RS and stick the change into his mortgage account. I think this guy has a soft spot for the 993 RS (amongst other kit). Perhaps he wants a white one like the model he drove in GTPP just recently.

But the thing is, I know that if I had the means and I bought a 993 GT2, I wouldn't just flog it after a few months. Never mind warranties running out. Or maybe he's worried about tracking such a valuable car?

Come on Chris, if you are a lurker here, tell us what on earth you are doing.

Johnny, I responded to one of Glenns posts on S9's.

I think I read in one of his fine articles that as the warranty cannot be extended past the cars 10th birthday it poses too much risk after the recent (warranty covered) gearbox rebuild.

Still, respect to him for having owned it, been there got the T shirt etc...

I have asked myself the same question, if it needs to tried, but I just know I would actually prefer the normally aspirated purity of an RS Clubsport for 1/2 the money.

This was the last time that I will ever drive my GT2 fast. I won't be able to report on the veracity of the jibe that caused us to get these two cars (GT2 & CGT) together because my time with one of them is over. And now I've driven them together I am certain that prices of the other will always remain at a level where it will remain beyond my reach. And that's the way it should be.

Hmmm, yes Glenn, I would have liked to buy it. But I would prefer Vic's blue one. And LHD seems to suit them better.

I think what you say Paul is valid. When I was at Donington in October I was driving my car 'round there scaring myself a fair bit thinking, "this is fast enough for me really". Then I had a ride in Vic's blue car and i felt that it was quick, really quick, but perhaps not worth 60-70 grand more than mine. If you know what I mean. Oh.....who am I kidding?!!

Flemke has the right idea. Just get a Big Mac and a Carrera GT and stop pondering 993 issues so much.

I must say, I really do not subscribe to the whole '993 is the last of the great porsches' concept, but the 993 GT2 is one car I would really like to own at some point, there is just something very very special about that car.

Apparently he does a bit of car dealing on the side. He's also got a decent set of contracts for buying and selling well (alledgedly).

Having said that he lost a chunk on his gallardo and GT2.

I met him once when he drove me around rockingham in a Noble. Seemed a nice chap, but quite quiet, and I was utterly lost for anything interesting to say.

In a copy of autocar I have he said the gallardo cost £10k in depreciation, insurance and fincance over four months and he had just sold a 997 c2s which cost £5k over two months.

I assume he will make something on the sale of the gt2.

RHD. There are a couple for sale (LHD) at gtclassics.co.uk at the £114k mark. These may not be as original as Chris' car tho.
