To Spoiler or Not?

Is you're car a 3.2 Carrera with 964 look bumpers and cup alloys?

So many people changed the look of their 3.2 to 964 and if they'd left the standard you could have sold it and bought a real 964 and had change to spare. But each to their own.

If you go for a non-spoiler route it could look like the electric spoiler is broken.

The spoiler route gives the car a 964 RS Lightweight look (even better if you can get an a spoiler without the rubber similar to the RS Lightweight).

You may want to consider the final look you're trying to create. Spoiler looks more aggresive performance orientated, where as non spoiler looks classic and cool.

I've got a 3.2 Carrera Sport but it's still impact bumpers with fuchs and I'm in the process of getting a non-spoiler engine lid, so I can create either look.

I think the non-spoiler is definately cooler.

C2, before you do anything have a butchers at the orginal 964 RS America or RUF CTR Spoliers (very similar). An orginal electric 964 spolier will be expensive to get working correctly.

Also worth remembering that spoliers are not for posing or having picnics, but actually perform a function - i.e. increase the air flow over the engine by 50% as well as improving the handling so make sure you fit a good one.

PS were you the guy in the PCGB (Brands hatch) Street Concourse last year?

G7, yes, it already had the 964 look done before I bought it. It fitted my requirements perfectly as I wnated the '964 look' with the charm of the 3.2!
Regarding the final look, in all honesty I would like a 964 spoiler fitting to match the rest of the car, but didn't see any harm in trying something for size to see if it worked (or not)!

I found a picture of an RS LWT America and that had a whale tail fitted, albeit colour coded, which is sort of why I thought it may look ok on mine. May try a p/shop picture with a red spoiler on. Not me at Brands BTW, and dont think I'd dare enter it in a conourse!

Yes it's an RSA wing and a separate engine lid made from carbon fiber and is very light. IIRC saves about 20kg. BTW the motorised C2 spoiler is very heavy and I'd think twice about fitting one if I was you. With paint it wasn't cheap but to be fair the quality is very good.

I rememeber reading a while ago somewhere that dealers who sell SCs' and 3.2s' etc were finding it increasingly difficult to source non-spoiler cars, which to the enthusiast were the "classic" look.

I was looking at an advert for an 87 targa with a view to buying the other day. The car had been 964'd up.

I found myself thinking "I wonder how much it would cost to get it back to original condition?".

If you see my first post, I'd suggested it should have been kept original, but as C2LOOK wanted a 964 look then he might as well finish it off with a 964 bootlid. There are plently of people who'd buy your non-spoilered bootlid as most are drilled for the spoiler.

If you want a 964 electric lid go for it, you've already gone 99% down the 964 look route.

Personally I prefer my 911 3.2 standard with no spoiler, but each to their own.

I've got a wide body 911SC (welded on arch extensions by the way) and have no spoiler and I think it looks the badgers tadger.

Nicely understated - and the supercharger fits under the lid too so even more stealth!
