Correct oil for a 993 T4
Discussion
If you have the receipts from the OPC then have a look for the type of oil they used or give them a call. The UK OPC that serviced my 993tt for the previous owner used Castrol TXT synthetic, one of the porker recommended oils (look in the handbook). I now use Mobil 1 5W-40 instead, another porker recognised oil.
Whatever you choose, I'd recommend not going lower than 5W-40 on the viscosity - if you use 0W-40 then your engine might suddenly discover a few minor but annoying leaks, particularly from the cam cover gaskets.
For topping up purposes I don't think that it can really do any harm using the high quality oil of your choice, as long as it is one of the Porsche recommended brands in the appropriate grade.
