Got into my 996 no less than 6 times today and engine started first time , everytime.
In fact , in 8 months of ownership , absolutely NOTHING has gone wrong , it hasn't stopped (when it shouldn't), nothing's been replaced (except the oil) ,or leaked (except my 2 year old boy) or even so much as sounded kind of off-ish (except my mother-in-law)

Has anyone else had this recurring problem?

Ah, but if it was a 993 it would have made you a cup of tea and given you a shoulder massage everytime you got in it.

Sadly my 996 also just works as advertsied, all the time, everytime, everyday.

crosses fingers and touches wood

Same problem here - never missed a beat - never lost a drop of oil.

Ok boys - so that you don't get carried away. Within the last 12 months my hitherto faultless 996 (30.000 miles) has had a new catalyst, a new tiptronic gearbox as it was leaking oil and while we are at it a new RMS seal as well.

So enjoy it while you can - and don't forget to buy the extended warranty!

PS: My Aston is proving much more reliable with no problems whatsoever during the first 12 months of ownership.

tiptronic gearbox

theres your culprit

mines also has never had anything wrong with it since I bought it (other than consumables), would love a turbo or a GT3 but the fact that shes been o so reliable makes me feel really bad when im drooling at other models . . . . .
