996TT major service pricing slashed?

I got a copy of "news update" through the post from my local OPC today. Noticed (apart from the nice pics & details of the 997TT & GT3) that there is fixed pricing for 996's (along with 997, Boxster etc) but the major 24k mile service on a 996TT is listed at £538 inc VAT.
I had mine done 6 months ago & paid over £1k for a standard service.

Has the pricing been slashed?

eh? thought it was £1200 for a major (48k is major, not 24k) and more like £800 for medium 24k and £500 for minor 12k and 36k

are you seriously saying you paid over £1k for a 12k service?

I was told £1500 by OPC Reading for a Major on mine?

was told by the opc that 24k was a major service on mine (belts plugs change etc)- and cost me £1.2k

I was under impression 12k (or 1 year) was minor, 24k (2 years) was major.

When you get to 48k service (4 years) then plugs & couple other bits need doing so its a major plus a bit.

The 48k one isn't listed in the brochure, but a minor is listed as £342 & a major as £538.

My last was a major (48k 4 year service) but because of the mileage (22k) the plugs were not changed so it was priced as a "standard" major - ie a 24k mile service, and it cost me £1,198 (I used my PCGB 10% parts discount)

I just had a 24k service at £538 at an OPC.They went for the screenwash and dodgy wiper blade gag to bump the price up so i told them to @uck off,but £538 is the official 24k starting price.

Had my 24k done a few months ago by Porsche Reading - £800.

They told me labour rates approx £100ph if car less than 3 years old. Approx £70ph if older.

Could you post the prices for pre '01 n/a 996's when you get a chance?

just goes to show what a scam it all is. why the differential pricing? newer cars are statistically more likely to have only routine problems. older ones get sticky bits, jammed bolts, seized nuts etc so are likely to take longer, and more skill. the answer? subsidise the older cars by hiking the price on new car servicing. fine for someone like me, with an old car. but if i'd bought a new car I'd wonder why i was subsidising some other fella. A bit like buying a nice new silk tie and being told its price has been artificially hiked to help out the poor buggers buting from the polyester rack.
what drivel. OPC charges vary according to size of wallet. wheres the justice in that?

Does anyone visit their OPC online, all Porsche service prices are there.

996 Turbo Minor (12k) £332, Major (24k) £538, Annual £116, Replace Plugs £456 @48k, Fuel Filter £75 @48k.

997 (S & non S) £342 Minor (every 2 years or 20k miles & £517 major (every 4 years or 40k miles)

996 (Carrera, 4, 4S & Targa, 98-01) £ 331 Minor (1 year or 12k miles) & £518 Major (2 years or 24k miles)
996 (Carrera, 4, 4S & Targa, 02-03) £ 322 Minor (1 year or 12k miles) & 511 Major (2 years or 24k miles)

£456 to replace plugs.....most of this is labour....crazy.
I was speaking to an specialist the other day who said they can change a set of plugs on a 996TT in an hour. OPC's charge several hours because they say they have to remove the rear bumper to get to the plugs which is nonsence.

I would like to see this specialist replace the plugs in an hour!

I am a porsche specialist and have worked in an opc for many years and have seen people try and leave the intercoolers and the bumper on and it takes longer that way than doing the job properly!!

I would take approximatley 2 hours. but thaths just me...

1 hour seems very fast.

My opc quoted 4 hours for a plug change on a 996tt!!
