Hello all this'll be my first post on the Porsche forum, my first Porsche ownership experience being Imminent
my Questions are if you were going to buy a 964 RS what wheels would you rather have 18" Speedline split rims or 17" Magnesium Cup wheels, also would you go for a 3.8 RS Tuning conversion or a standard engine ? pretty sort of naieve questions but it would be nice to know some other opinions before I dive in !there I done it thats me Forum cherry popped

Get the 17" mags - originality impact value. But you don't have to keep them in the car. I got some BBS race wheels in aluminium which I use most of the time with the mags in the garage with wet weather tyres on them. I think my BBS wheels look great, but they would hurt resale.
Loads of engines have had work; anything from a freer flowing air filter to complete internals/ecu change. Standard again is good for resale, but that does mean you can pick up a non-standard car with lost of (expensive) work done to it for normal car money. This is good of you accept it might prove tricky to sell. the worst of both worlds is probably to buy original, spend lots on mods and lose all money of you sell. I have a heavily modified 3.6 running 9M's Motel plus 1 kit (new ecu and internals) allegedly pushing out 340bhp. Also has various other whistles and bells from prior owner, but I got it for normal car money. It would be hard work to sell it though.

People keep honking on about the deficit in value when the Mag wheels are not present but the 18" speedline for porsche rims are even rarer. (As fitted to the late 64 race cars) Now you try finding a set of these babies!
and a nightmare to maintain...and try finding a set without corrosion
.....well on a non white car that is actually let out of the garage anyway
