Cleaning yor Air Flow Meter

My car has got "several" miles under its belt and I'm thinking that a few things would work a bit better if they were "clean".

A lot of 944 owners are devling into the world of a MAF conversion, but Im not convinced that a new MAF would give me anything over a new AFM or a "clean" one.

I have heard that there is something that you can get that you pour in to a container and stick yout AFM in to it and leave it/shake it and it does the job ( I could also have dreamt it!!? )

Has anyone else cleaned an AFM or have the slightest idea what I'm on about?

I believe you may be thinking of your throttle body. They can get gummed up and can be cleaned with carb cleaner. The AFM is further away near the air filter and will be cleaner. The AFM can still degenerate over time as its contacts slide up and down a track of varying resistance and can wear the track out.
