Just had a thought... about to get my 'new' Becker Traffic Pro SatNav fitted.... I read elsewhere that you need to spice into the loom to pick up a speed pulse for accurate nav, but, thinking about it, surely a speed pulse is already on the stereo connector for the GAL function (volume increase as you speed up)? Also, does it need a feed to 'know' the car is in reverse?

In other words, is it just a case of plugging it in and mounting the GPS receiver....?

It is a simple non-bluetooth unit so no microphones or anything fancy like that...

Thanks again!

I don't know the system you're talking about but since you describe it as sat nav it is already capable of determining your speed. And that's real speed rather than the approximation available from any wheel-speed related calculation.

GAL wire is already connected to radio unless you have the DSP amp, in which case you need to pick up the wire in the driver's footwell. If you search on Rennteam you will find some instructions with pictures.

Thanks sek, sounds like a straightforward swap. The bit I read about picking up the speed wire was in reference to fitting to a 993 I seem to recall.

I'll let you all know how I get on as the head unit cost about £200 so it could be a very cost effective way of adding (simple) satnav to an older 996.
