Placed Deposit for a 997 C2S
Discussion
I've just placed a deposit for a new 997 C2S which is to be delivered in June. Got a bit of a dilemma now in what spec to order for the car???
I was going to go the usual route of silver and black leather but there are plenty of this spec out there already!! Any suggestions??
Also what are anybody's thoughts on what extras are a must for resale in probably 2 to 3 years time? i.e sat nav etc!

I went for Basalt Black and that is only because I have no imagination. Red would be cool.
Options to go for is entirely up to you. I went for as near as zero options as possible because I wanted a 'Sports Car' and not a 'GT' and don't miss any of them. I do however love the -20mm suspension and having driven both the PASM version and mine would never get a PASM car. Which could prove interesting as the new GT3 has PASM and I have my name down
Sports Exhaust and short shifter are the only 2 options I would have liked when I ordered my car but could not have.
Oh and the new wheels not sure of the name look great but were also not available when I got mine.

I have gone for midnight blue with ocean blue interior.
Sports design wheels, sports exhaust, short shift gearbox and -20mm suspension
six weeks to go untill I pick it up.

If I were willing to spend that much on a car I would have speed yellow with black leather.
I'm still in two minds about the colour coded seatbelts ...
I don't suppose this would do the resale much good.

If you are speccing extras based on resale in 3 years time, then you are not as excited about getting this car as you ought to be. I'd say just order the car that you want, there are going to be enough used 997S' in 3 years time that there is going to be a buyer for your car whatever the spec is.

Having had loads of black/silver/grey cars I decided to get a Guards Red one this time.
I'll probably get (even more) shafted when I come to sell.
I don't care as I love the look of the car.

Hi,
I agree entirely with this. I've only been posting on here for about a year, but I've noticed so many of these threads. While it's perfectly normal to canvass opinion before spending the thick end of £70k, you must remember that it is just that. Other people's opinion.
When I specced mine, I ticked the dull Seal Grey box because I live in nasty old Central London (it's full of jealous people with sharp keys) not because of future resale value. I specced SatNav so I wouldn't get as lost when driving around Central London. And I didn't spec Sports Chrono because I didn't intend to go on a track (and the chronometer looks tacky IMO). I specced the car I wanted.
It's going to be your car. It's going to be your money. Spec it exactly how you want it. And then look forward to June.

Cheers!
It does look distinctive compared to a lot of other, more common, colours.
As a number of other posters have argued, buy the car for yourself, you'll get shafted at trade-in time anyway.
