I think something's wrong with my 996 C2.

I've had the car since Feb '02 and have covered 9K miles. The total mileage is now 52K. ( I know.) The car had it's 48K service at AFN in September.

Anyway, I have never had to add any oil at all. The level hovers between maximum or one notch lower all the time.

What about you guys ?

Stop moaning you old tart, why don't you just spill some on the garage floor each weekend and feel happy that it's a 'real' beetle?

I have run mine from collecting it with 8 miles to the current 3,200 miles.....through the running in period I was checking it every 200 miles and I have added less than 1/2 a litre of Mobil 1 to keep it at the upper end of the dip stick measurement.
I don't get the impression they burn much oil!

My Turbo gets through it pretty quick, probably 1ltr every 1000 miles. Although that's well within spec.

Ditto. 10k miles from new in a Carrera 2 and still holding onto a one litre bottle of Mobil 1, which is about 2/3 empty now. Fairly hard driven, but then I don't use the same Mobil 1 as you guys (we use slightly thicker Mobil 1 in the heat).

1 litre in the last 4,000 miles including a Nurburg weekend and some serious lower gear driving.

your car's OK, I've done 48K and used a bit of top up once or twice never more than 0.5 litre. what you've got to worry about is using water....

Although not a Porshe owner, I suspect gentle and thorough running in to be the 'cause' of low oil consumption!

Alfas such as mine are renowned for liking the black stuff, but mine hasn't used a drop (other than changing at service intervals) since 8000 miles (now at 26500)...

Congratulate yourself

I'd like to take the credit but like I said, the car had 43K on the clock when I got it. I've personally thrashed the b*ll***s off it since then !

Only joking if any potential buyers in a couple of months time are reading.
