Anything be "done" to a 996TT to make it sound better FOC?
Discussion
On the Boxster S you can remove the "snorkel" to make it sound more aggresive, on the 996's there is the "orange cap" mod to do the same, both cost next to nothing & improve the engine sound (apart from drilling a hole in the exhaust !)
Anything like that available on the 996TT ?
Just wondering....

Sorry but NO, only route is an aftermarket exhaust system, but as these have to include the Cats, they are expensive with a capital E (£2.5k plus!), best route buy the Porsche mags, search the web, ask your OPC etc, for a second hand set-up.
I got a used GHL motorsport exhausts for sale. It costs $3000 new (it comes with the super expensive german 100cel cats) and I'm willing to let go for £900 plus shipping from Portugal (approx. £150). Go to www.ghlmotorsportcom and if you're interested contact me and I'll send you a pdf document with some independent 996TT exhaust testing including RUF, GHL, Fabspeed, etc
Cheers

This mod was "all the rage" about 2 years ago, I did the mod on my 3.4 996 C2, but only for a few weeks as wasn't 110% sure it wouldn't damage something somewhere, though I was assured it wouldn't (and I had no issues)
Made the car sound much better, and the caps are free samples you can order (I still have one knocking around somewhere)

So Basically nothing on a 996 TT except change the exhaust ?
I am after a sports exhaust that sounds more like a 4S. I appreciate the turbos suppress the sound.
But its the rawness of the 4S that i am after. Not massive noise and booming.
I recently fitted the GT2 fabspeed exhaust and took off 4 hrs later as it was unbearable. I am also not keen on the tubi.
any other suggestions to sound more like a 4 s, and dont suggest buying one :-)

Turbo with Tubi is ( imo ) the answer, it`s not as loud as a C4s with factory sports exhaust but much better than the stock turbo. See Manu at Scuderia Systems , very enthusiastic and is very competitive re: prices.
oops, didn`t see the FOC, ignore the above.

Any thoughts on the Cargraphic 996 TT system? Mark at Stuttgart connection reckons he can provide the system for under £2,500 inc. Sounds a good price, but is the system any good?
Another question, using 100 cell cats, is the car likely to fail emissions tests in the near future as I have heard stories of the cats burning out quickly?
