Salvage

Insurance company have written off my 2000 c2 cab. I had just fitted a supercharger at a cost of 7k which
1 I could take off and fit to new car
2 Try and get them to pay out for the supercharger( told them it had been done)
3 Try and buy the salvage
Any idea what it would be worth front nearside damage wing door rear wing air bags ok engine ok 32000 miles

Have you agreed a settlement figure ? Will it reimburse you for the bulk of the cost of the supercharger ?
If yes I'd walk away from it. If it's been assesed as a total loss Cat D or worse, it's going to be hard work shifting it when you do inevitably come to move it on. All IMO

No waiting for the insurance company to come up with an offer, don't know if they will cover the cost of the supercharger or not. They did not seem very keen to let me take bits of it. So thought I might see how much they wanted for the salvage thake the supercharger off and sell it on as it is.

If the car's CAT C/D you may be able to retain the salvage after the relevant deduction from the pre-accident value.

I'm OK just a bit disappointed only had it for 7 months and it had been in and out of the garage for last 2 months fine tuning the supercharger, finally got it sorted and ready for the summer and bang old bloke blacks out at the wheel and swerves straight in front of me.

glad you are ok - take consolation in that it could have been a whole lot worse - you are still around to buy another 996 (and fit a SC)

Lots of insurance companies will not sell you the salvage as they are contracted to sell ALL of it to other parties, I couldnt buy my Maserati salvage when I wanted to

Can by it back for £8500 take off the supercharger and sell it on. Is it worth the money?

As salvage without the supercharger you will get at least £12k.

How difficult will it be to sell it on as salvage ?

You didn't mention what the insurance company paid out - I'd have thought a '00 cab with 32k miles would pay out approx £30k ??

Have you thought of buying the salvage back for £8.5 k , spend £10k -$15k(?) with a reputable specialist to get it fixed up, after which you get your car with the S/C back . This leaves you £7k-£12k in pocket to make up for the lower value when comes time to sell it on - and you can still take the S/C off.
