996 GT3 mk1 - Why so Cheap ?

Ok fellas, you lot seem to be in the know why is this GT3 so cheap, RHD 32,000 mls, is it the colour, or the fact its a comfort model with what appears to be no roll cage or do you think its something more sinister

That's not my one - I think slippydiff grabbed it (but I did look at it, and it looked good).

That car is in a dealer about a mile from me in Keston, near Bromley. Had a quick look through the window at it a couple of weeks ago. Looks nice from a distance, colour is not to everyone's taste though (I've got a black one).
When I passed the showroom the other day it was no longer there, so may have been sold or out on a test drive. If you are in the market for one and don't mind the colour then I would definitely take a look at it. If you live some way away, then I would be happy to give it a once over and let you know whether it was worth travelling to take a look at.
Sorry didn't see RGEE's comment about OPC service record. Very worrying indeed!! Worth double checking with OPC HQ at Reading. These cars very seldom fall outside the OPC network in the first four or five years of ownership, so for there to be no service record seems a bit iffy to me. I bet you may have got the OPC bozo giving you duff info on servicing record.

hey I've found a couple of others 2 RHD low to mid 40's and a couple LHD, one of these at wait for it........... 38k unbelieveable eh!.....oh whats that ..er, er, I can't recall where they are now..god dam mit, oh well never mind yer don't want one any how's eh!

Oh, and two new rear tyres.
Personally I didn't think it was "cheap" but actually right on the money, the Lapis blue car up at Gmund was/is waaaaaaaay too expensive, Sambaman on here has a nice example (but I didn't fancy SY) and at 13,000 odd miles I feared that it may become a garage queen due to fear of putting miles on it.
I spoke to the previous owner of the Zanzibar car, who initially advertised the car privately (at circa £47-8K) with no interest. Which I guess indicates the market for Mk1s at this price level no longer exists, a sign that Mk2s are now heading "South" and looking better value for money ?
This car ticked all the boxes and doesn't appear to have had a hard life on track or to have had any paintwork.
It drives beautifully, with a far sweeter gearshift action than the other car I drove.
Zanzibar seems to be a "Marmite" love it or loathe it colour. Personally (and no offence to those that own them) I can't see the point in having one of these fantastic cars in Silver, Zanzibar just seems to further underline they're something a bit out of the ordinary.
As regards the service history, I will be making further investigations....................however my initial inspection of the service details indicated all appeared to be "above board" Furthermore the car has been sold by Camtune on at least two previous occasions, I'd guess there may have been some less than accurate information given out by an OPC but I shall nontheless double check.
DVLC permitting, I'm looking forward to collecting it this weekend

Chr*st - have you guys seen the new one? Popped in for a brochure last week, and thought I was going to burst a blood vessel. Next year, I think, when the fuss has died down a bit. I don't see any reason for the current low pricing of the Mk1 GT3, and think one bought cheaply in good condition is going to be pretty depreciation proof if kept long enough. Porsche kept fiddling with and updating the car - in a few years I don't think it will be as relevant what shape the headlights are or what shape the rear wing. Why not have a look at LHD? They're usually cheaper, there are more of them, and they will in the medium-long run be on a depreciation curve at least as good as the RHD cars - good 911s are even more coveted here (Germany) than in the UK. Forget the LHD reasle in the UK argument - sell it back here when you're done.
