997 GT3 spec

Has anyone spec'd a GT3 for road and track use or just configured what it would be if they wanted one. I'm interested to know what people have added and left out and what the final price was. Anyone know what the cost is for introducing a specific paint colour?

I think special order paint is in the region of £2200.

Don't have the price in GBP. I was a bit shaky about the buckets
'cause they're bloody expensive (and not very practical). But they save quite a lot of weight and look great. Also don't like the plasticky center console. Hope it looks better painted black. Cheers!

cool, iv left the seats out at the moment as id need this car for day to day driving aswell. Why did you not go for the sports chrono package plus " Sport button "? It seems there the same money but doesnt the sport function offer quicker reaction times for the throttle?

never been a fan of these as it looks even cheaper - just painted plastic (and obviously plastic too)

why not spend an extra £100 or so and get it covered in leather which compliments the rest of the interior?

Why not Chrono + Sport button? Well, Sport button is supposed to be standard on the GT3 - i.e. nothing to do with the Chrono this time. The other option in the configurator (Chrono Package Plus) that I think you are referring to is with PCM only - and I don't need Satnav in a GT3...

Thanks for the advice on the center console. Leather is optional, so no, the rest of the interior won't be covered in leather. Might have to re-think this option though if you say it looks tacky...

Just to counter his argument, I've got a white console in the RS and I think it looks great. I think it is one of those colour dependent things.

Still deciding on the Race Buckets, and will probably go for carbon kickplates and carbon centre console (though not if I go for the buckets - they're bloody expensive)

I'm early on the list for and RS, though, so will wait to see what happens with that. I'll wait to hear more info on its specification. I really want to buy something that I'm happy to keep for at least 3 years.

Saved quite a lot of wieght, held everything together -- and a low low cost option ?

that might well be the exception Dan - most I see are the ali finish or dodgy red / yellow - to me it just reminds me of cheap cars from the 70s that used to have unfinished metal on the inside of the doors rather than interior trim (except knocking Porsche consoles reminds you it is cheapo plastic and not metal)

I would recommend the red seat belts as well since the 5-point belts that come with your Club Sport package are red. I'm a bit jealous of your full lether interior + leather center console, but that's alot of cash I think. If I had a base 997 I would go for full leather without doubt. But I think it's ok not to have full leather on a spory car like the GT3.

Just speccing mine - arrives 1 Sept - and a bit cheesed off to discover 'no cost option' of clubsport package isn't no cost at all because you have to have race seats - at £3500!!!!!!!!!! Thats two very expensive seats guys. In reality I guess the whole clubsport package actually costs £3500 and put like that for trim, cage, extinguisher, seats etc. I guess it's not so bad.

Sammy how come you have a confirmed delivery date already? My OPC hasn't even got their allocation numbers yet, which dealer are you with?
