Oil pressure readout - info ?
Discussion
Hi all,
as I am a real newbie (had my 996TT only just a couple
of days) I would like to know, how the "normal behaviour"
of the oil-pressure instrument would be.
I notice, that when driving the pressure drops and then
again goes up to the max reading of 5. The drops seem
to happen whenever I change gears, go to idle or let the
car roll at low rpms in city traffic.
Any hints are really appreciated. I am no techie, but
love the car (august 2004, 17tkm) and it loves our
german Autobahn.

kayc,
thank You for Your reply & explanation.
The movements indeed vary with the current
motor temperature. I should really take a
look at the mechanical background of my car...
Take care,
Frank
I had to email Ballcock with that very question on my "new to me" C4. Surprised it isn't asked more often.

Right Irish, seems there had to be a poor
german chap to pose that question.
But it really bewildered me to notice
that something important-sounding like
"oil pressure" (spell: trouble) would
always vary. Well, lesson learned.
Same goes for the fuel tank: Always on
low indicator, even though I just filled
it up. Wonder why THAT is...
Cheers,
