Boxster & phone kit

Apologies in advance for what may turn out to be a daft question. Not had my boxster long.. On the dash next to the speedo, and on the passenger side, I have what appears to be two small speakers? Are they to use a mobile in the car? If so is it ony for the OEM kit or can they be used for any kit?
