Palmersport 911

Just received a mailing from Palmersport, [url]www.palmersport.com/cars_porsche.htm [/url], after spending the day with them at Bedford last year. (The Jaguar Sports Prototype in the wet focussed the mind...)

Anyway, it seems they've replaced their Mitsubishi Evos with a few 996 'JP3s' for this season. Anyone driven one yet? What's the spec? It looks quite standard except for the wheels and aerokit, (and tiptronic!) but it also looks like a lot of fun...

yes but it's not a standard tiptronic - last year they spent ages testing the normal ones and bits kept breaking, so Palmer refined/devised their own for the 911s which is apparently rather good (from the engineer...)

Will find out in 2 weeks so will let you know...

I hadn't read this thread [url]www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=253858&f=48&h=0&hw/[url], so I didn't realise it was on the same sort of subject matter.

If it is a proper paddle shift conversion, it does at least remain consistent with some of their other cars. IIRC, the Clio and the Jaguar Palmer are both sequential shifts too. They also both have instructors sitting next to you shouting up or down. Obvioulsy over-revving is an issue they'd rather avoid when you have any number of novices (including me) jumping in their rather-expensive-to-rebuild-engined cars...
