How often do you change your “sports” car ?

Personally I bought my 996TT as a keeper, but then sometimes I get an urge to return to the simple life of less hectic cornering...

How often do you change your “fast” car ? when you do is it just from boredom or some other reason ?

I change my car roughly once a yr. Firstly to try not to lose too much in depreciation, secondly coz i get bored and always seem to want a better car around 9 months into the current one.

Currently on the lookout for a 996TT if any1 has one for sale

The boredom is easily relieved by simply driving a shed during the week and playing with your toy at the weekend.

For the last few cars I have changed every 6-12 months... if you buy well it seems to be an economical way of running cars though I have no doubt that I will get caught out shortly!

My 997 TT should be coming later this year and I suspect that I might keep hold of this for a few years and stop wasting so much time thinking about cars and trying to work out what to buy next / what is the best deal! I will run it as an everyday car and not think about depreciation - though be sure to get rid of it well in advance of the '998' as I don't want to take the hit that 996 TT owners have taken over the past 12 months or so.

My attitude is that cars cost a lot to run - there is no getting away from that. If you think about the cost too much then it's not worth it so don't bother. That said, there are some basic steps that can be taken to avoid being hammered - starting with never buying a new £150k V12 supercar!

actually it could be 'how often do you change your shorts, car' which makes even less sense, unless your real name is 'car' in which case I apologise profusely.

I tend to keep my cars for a fair while. I had my 993 for over 5 years. Been in my GT3 15 months, nowhere near changing it yet - if i stick with 2 seaters, my next car will be the 997GT3 - probably for my 40th (2009) (god that sounds scary....).

Usually change mine somewhere between every 9 and 15 months. Prepared to go upto 6 months without one as well.

I've had mine for over 7 years and when I think about changing it I spend the money on an engine/brakes/suspension upgrade.

Feels like a new car when I get it back.

7 years ago it was a standard narrow body 204BHP 911SC

Now it's a wide body 400BHP supercharged 993 engined, 930 suspensioned/braked beast.

I think about it every now and again, I do it.....less often.

I don't fancy all that depreciation lark.

I've had my TDI Audi for over 10 years, and 964 for nearly 4.......refine the 964 a tad, keep the Audi for reminding why I need the 964, simple.

Every 2 years generally. Although I think the GT2 is a keeper unless the Mrs starts producing sprogs at an alarming rate which could make it cost prohibitive

Given that I use the damn thing about 4 times a year, probably about once a decade.

An unhealthy interest in grand masters probably makes vastly more sense.
