Porsche 996 GT3 RS - PRICES

Last year looking around for a Porsche 996 C4s, any talked my way up
to a GT3 then ended up looking and nearly buying a GT3 RS
Until the guy said he would take a deposit but wanted to use it for a
Gumball styled rally.
Anyway, looking around at them again nearly 12 months on and the prices seem to been
close if not maybe another 5k more ???
Which is good for exsisting owners, but my question is
how will the RS fair against the newer 997 GT3 ?? Is it this year that we see prices slide

Very droll. I think you're refering to me. Tied up a deal on Sat. actually. Paid £63,750 - blue decals, PCCB's & 5,750 miles. If anyone believes the hype on prices and wants to pay me more than that I'll happily sell - I know there's at least one more out there at that price. DO NOT pay more than £65,000!!!!!!

63.5K seems a really good deal; couldn't have been a OPC vehicle!
I have been following the OPC prices which I would say as a minimum have stabilised, maybe because there seems to be fewer available (at least through the OPC network)

Ah....don't bother with the Locator. There are actually a few more cars than you think 'out the back' of a number of dealers. They're not plonkers though and do actually talk to each other - hence they don't all appear at once and prices remain high. Call around find the cars and haggle - preferably at end of month, or, even better, at end of financial year and you'll be staggered at the deal available - I was! Don't forget these cars may be icons to us but they just another commodity to these guys who earn their money by playing the numbers game. My car had an initial asking price MUCH higher than I eventually paid. They're quite difficult to shift too you know. We're a tiny minority in the grand total of Porsche customers after all. Anyway really wasn't trying to be a smart arse - just wanted to pass on info.
RS MAY be for sale when my new GT3 arrives in Sept depending on how they compare.

p.p.s. I'd box up those ceramics for the next owner as they aren't up to track usage.

I agree not quite £60k but much better than £70k all the same. Apologies that my postings don't come up to scratch Dan - I'll start using long words if I can come up with any. Good grief, it's like being back at school and I thought this was all meant to be about our hobby! Leave me alone and go back to you're Times crossword.
Seriously though I had heard that the blue ones are faster - the blue decals are lighter - and I've already cleared a space in the garage for those ceramics.
Also agonising over whether to have an RS to track over the summer vs how badly they get hit come 997GT3 time.There's clearly a distinction between OPC cars at 70k+ and the more realistic independents.Only difference between the two in reality is OPC warranty I should think.Interesting too that,as stated previously,ceramics count for no premium at all (not that they come at any discount either).
The real issue here is the 997 GT3.
It looks like it'll be a softer proposition than the 996 RS.. Current 996 GT3RS owners are finally the types of people that the car was originally designed for - I can't see many of them swapping into the boggo 997 GT3. And with the 997 GT3RS likely to come in at a whopping ~£100K the cost to swap will be around £40K... who's going to be bothered to do that? ESPECIALLY as the 997 RS will NOT be a limited run car and just may not be fast enough to justify the cost.
The HALLMARK of mega depreciation is a flood of cars for sale (look at Ferrari 360s!!!). Although there are few to be had (with some nice deals too) there aren't loads and loads which means if you want a specific car you'll be forced to pay a touch more.
Sammy - put the PCCBs in a box. If you buy the steel replacements the cost of your car was £65K which is in line with something an OPC said "cars with PCCB command less money than steels".... interesting that.

Seriously though I had heard that the blue ones are faster - the blue decals are lighter -
Actually Red ones are faster - the red decals have less drag.
