Turbo Wheels

Hi there,
I'm thinking of getting some new wheels for my 2000 C2. Can anyone tell me if the slightly wider wheels from a wide bodied 996,(i.e. turbo II alloys) wheels from will fit a narrow bodied one such as mine.

I have Turbo II wheels fitted to my 996 c4, so I'd say yes no problem. Check the photo in my profile

I don't think they do - Proper Turbo wheels are 11" wide and will rub the body. You can get turbo 'look' wheels that are the proper width (10" and offset (65 from memory). Fronts should be either 7.5" or 8" wide, offset 50/52.

Will T - are the wheels you have original or replica turbo look, i.e. are the rears 10 or 11 wide?
If they are the original 11 wide ones - did you have to make any body or suspension changes?

He might take a chance with original Turbo SportTechnos which I have as my winter wheels. Dimensions are 8Jx18 50mm and 10Jx18 47mm. These are hollow spoke wheels (correct words?), too. They are manufactured by BBS here in Germany for Porsche if it helps.

The Turbo and C4S are wide bodied for a reason - to give a wider track and have larger width wheels on the rear. If you try to sqeeze wheels designed for a wide bodied car onto a C2, C4 etc (Ie narrow bodies), you one, risk rubbing the wheels on the body and/or suspension parts (due to the offset) and two, totally upset the balance of the car - larger than normal rears will give you even MORE understear than you have already. Stick with what the car was designed to have - by all means have turbo 'look' wheels but make sure they are the correct width/offset. To reduce understeed btw, suggest getting 8" fronts and run 235 tyres - leaving the rears on 265 (10". Hope this helps ... Richard.
