Becker 7820 - will it fit into a 2002 (02) 996TT ?

My TT has a Becker Silverstone 7860 CD changer, and a cdr-22 head unit.

Will I be able to get someone to fit the 7820 with no "problems"
I woudn't attempt it myself amd if its a nightmare/expensive job for an audio specialist to fit then I wont buy it.

Any help appreciated.

If the car was factory fitted with 'CD Preparation' then fitting is a doddle as all the wiring is there, basically plug in and play!

How can I tell ? Is there an option code to look out for ?
I didn't but the car new, so I don't know if the CD Changer was fitted by the factory or after delivery (I assume the head unit was factory fit, but again can't be 100%.

If it does have the CD prep option, the 7820 obviously will have a GPS antenna - is that easy to install ? I would have thought this would be the tricky bit ?

I take it that having the BOSE upgrade wont affect it going in/operation ?
The GPS antenna for the 7820...where does that go ?

No - the Bose amp just connects via the pre amp outputs on the back of both Beckers (yellow plug IIRC).

The GPS aerial can go inside the dash, assuming you don't have a treated or heated front screen, and there is no metal above it. Can't remember off hand where exaclty my guys fit em, but I'll ask in the morning.

The guy who fitted my Traffic Pro took off the passenger side speaker and fixed the aeriel, via it's magnet, to a metal bar therein. He ran the cable through to the back of the unit by working in the footwell.

It works perfectly.

You'll also find a metal plate under the alarm cover (front middle of dash) and you can mount it there, drop the wire into the dash (by loosening 2 screws) and then replace the cover. I've just done a 7820 installation in my 996 C4 so if you want any other advice (like how to get the speakers working again and how to do the reverse wire) feel free to PM me.

I don't think the 7820 is made anymore (?) so I would assume the navigation CD's are not made for it anymore and would become out of date in the next couple of years ?

On a smilar point. My 996 has a Sony head unit and 6CD - I would like this removed (gently!!) and replaced with the TrafficProhead unit - you know the one that looks like original equipment. I have the standard speakers.

HughJteens - do you do this, how much for cash if I whizz over and get it fitted asap?

I've a Porsche (Becker?) head unit & CDC-3 changer fitted from new - is it just a matter of swapping out the head unit for the 7820 and locating the GPS antenna ?

Well I successfully bid for and won a Becker 7820 sat/nav on eBay yesterday - allegedly an ex demo unit/never been fitted....mmmmm !!!

Anyway today whilst waiting for the unit to arrive, I was trying to figure out how to remove the existing CDR 22 head unit from the dash - Can anyone tell me where can I get the special key to remove it ?
