Apologies if this is going to seem vague .
A friend of mine has described (down the phone!) a problem he's having , mostly after 2nd start of the day , where it feels to him as if there's a type of 'power fade' , especially when pulling off in first gear ... He describes it like the engines somehow not pushing out as much to the wheels as he would expect of it.
I probably shouldn't even post this , it's so vague , but as a favour to the pal , who's non-computerised ,here goes anyway! ...

Sounds normal for a Tiptronic.

*sorry - couldn't resist, and I know it's getting annoying*

Are the engine revs rising/falling normally and does the engine sound healthy? In other words, is there any way to identify whether it could be transmission related? If it's the engine, I'd be under the car like a flash to see if any fluids are leaking/seeping. I'd also check all the levels carefully. Head gasket maybe? If it isn't something that can be quickly identified, I'd get it looked at quickly - I've come across too many threads in PH related to catastrophic 996 failures that started out innocently enough.

He's going to be as popular as anthrax if I don't send Him on a sabbatical, so stop talking about Him or He'll never leave.

Not right now, no. I need a Tiptronic emergency, and a phone booth. It's all action from there on in...

Apologies to Ballcock for hijacking his thread.

ITS NOT MY %£$*ING CAR!!

Mine's manual...

I'm not on drugs ..... mostly ...

I do like to get high occupationally

I've a feeling it could be the air mass sensor ( or whatever the porsche equivalent is).. The engine's working perfectly , the power to the axles is down.
