Anyone want a cracking 3.2 Carrera?

Its my 1987 3.2 Carrera, owned and loved for the last 3 years, but now ironically being sold to pay for a house extension/huge garage it was meant to live in. boooooo!
Cosmetically good, mechanically excellent, had lots of new bits, check it out in the classifieds. Super reliable, took me to Europe last year, fantastic holiday to Spain, South of France and Italy. I think its a fair price, and as its going in Top Marques next issue I was wondering if you agree, as the sooner its sold the less the mortgage payment is!!!

I agree they are cheaper, but a different model, they are the SC model before mine. they dont have the G50 gearbox, which is far better and stronger than the previous one these two have, and they dont have the same fuel injection therefore the acceleration is not as smooth. I think they are the SC model before mine, I drove a few before deciding on mine. Plus mine is a sport, with better suspension all round, full leather and electrics all working, with full Porsche service history. They are both nice cars though I agree.

They're both 3.2 Carreras. Confusingly, some people do refer to 3.2s as "Carrera SC"...I think Frere even uses the term in his book....but you may be confusing these cars with the 911 SC that ran from 1977 to 1983. Same body but different engine etc. Granted they both have 915 'boxes...but these can be a delight if adjusted properly. I didn't know that the G50 models had different fuel injection - what changed...and did it change when the G50 came in in late 1986?
Your car isn't overpriced IMHO and is a nice spec...the right colour, leather interior...but it is a Targa, not the most popular variant. Anyone lusting after an impact bumper 911 is likely to want to go for a Coupe.

Yes, they all ran Motronic - the SC was LE Jet IIRC. Gearboxes don't provide "torque" by the way. The change may have appeared smoother due to the hydraulic clutch and heavier throw of the G50...Good luck with the sale.

It would give more torque at the wheels if the gear box ratios were suitably different.
crikey never meant to cause a torque thread! I may be wrong but am sure the G50 can handle more torque from the engine than the 915 unit it replaced, and as such the gear ratios set-up were different. And I didnt get this from an internet forum thanks, its from the numerous Porsche books on the 3.2 I have read!
