GT3 wheels for 996

Does anyone know the correct size for GT3 wheels for a 99 996? I am looking at a pair on ebay which have 7.5J fronts. Listed as follows:

FRONT: 7 1/2J X 18 ET50 RT139
REAR: 10J X 18 ET65 RT140

Because its Bank Holiday I can't speak to anyone at Porsche to get the correct size. Scouring the web looks like the GT3 had 8.0J fronts. Design 911 do replicas at 8.5J fronts. All very confusing. OOI has anyone tried the Design 911 ones? And if so whats the quality like?

7.5" fronts were Boxster fitment but they will fit a 996 with no issues - especially if you go no wider than 225 tyre width.

8" fronts were GT3 Mk1 width
8.5" fronts were GT3 Mk2 width

10" rear GT3 Mk1
11" rear GT3 Mk2

The proper GT3 wheels are 18"x10" 65mm offset and 18"x8" 52mm offsets - smaller wheels were fitted as an option on Boxsters and some 996's. I have been told they are two piece and been told they are three piece, made for Porsche by BBS.

A lot of the independant sellers deal in genuine wheels, Jasmine for one, but there are some single piece examples about.

Seller says they came off his 996 but why would any 996 owner order Boxster fronts? Seems strange. Wouldn't they sink into the arches a little too much?

I may just go for the Design 911 ones. £700 for a set *seems* like pretty good value.

I always wanted the one piece GT3 alloys - with the sort of "fin" design.

Anyone wanna swap for a set of 18" turbos.

If you mean the GT3 mk2 one piece wheels, I think Porsch-apart have some in stock. They are pricey and a lot wider on the rears.

I had 7.5J fronts on the GT3 when I first bought my car. A photo of them is below. As you can see, they appear no different to the 8J fronts on first glance.

But I have since changed them to the correct 8J ET52 fronts for correctness/safety/etc and to be able to run slightly wider front tyres (235) which would otherwise not fit on the 7.5.

Make sure you get rear wheels with an et65 off set, as Boxster run circa et48 (too low )
All Boxster & 996 fronts will swap as they all use et52

Note; for all 4wd cars ( carrera 4, 996 turbo etc ) you must run the recomended tyre size that porsche list as an option for your car ( not the model they came off ),
GT2 & GT3 are 2wd cars so the tyre sizes may not be correct for say a C4..??!!

Porsch-apart want nearly £1800 with new tyres for a used set. Jasmine ony have the 7.5's but they'll do them for several hundred pounds cheaper tho'. I want the right ones but if there is no real difference in looks or performance, perhaps the 7.5's are the way to go. BTW this is the car I am going for. It currently has 19's on. I am not that keen. Anyone id the rims?

i have a brand new set of gt3 alloys (from my gt3 so im guessing their OE) with unused pirrelli tyres on them if anyone wants to make me an offer. theyre currently making my office look pretty, but im sure theyd look ok on a car too. y'know, if you like that sort of thing.


be a shame to spoil the look of my office though: helps me not do any work.
