Cheap cayenne,should i?

Ive been offered one cheap,a v6 with 20tmls decent speck for 25grand.I'm really wanting an X5 3.0d sport,as i'm no fan of the ugly one really.
My friends in the trade are telling me that they cant give the v6's away and they tend to be slow to re sell,slow to drive and nearly as thirsty as the V8.
Not your typical phers post i know,but i would welcome any opinions as i'm adding an suv to the fleet regardless

It's fairly cheap, but the V6 Cayenne is rubbish. You'll pick up a V6 Touareg (which is pretty much the same car, but better looking and better built) even cheaper if it's just a bargain you're looking for. The Cayenne V8s, thoguh ugly and poorly built, at least go well in big 4x4 terms - the V6 is a waste of space.
this is sale mentality and has to be resisted! are you the sort of chap who buys XL even though your a medium, becasue its 50% off on the sale rail?
If you were looking for a V6 cayenne then its youre lucky day. If you think its an ugly mother that you wouldnt have considered normally, then walk away. The euphoria of getting a "bargain" will soon wear off when you have to keep filling the tank on a car you never really wanted

Personally I don't see the point of big, powerful, thirsty 4x4s. None of them drive that well.
Either you need a 'working' 4x4, or you buy for 'day to day practicality'.
We run an X5 3.0d Sport as our family daily. It's our second X5, averages 15,000 miles pa, and I rate it very highly.
Running costs are satisfyingly low. It's approaching 30,000 miles, averaging 27.2 mpg from new, still on original tyres, had one service at 19k miles -£220, and uses no oil. Even residuals are respectable.
And it's prettier than a Cayenne.
Either you need a 'working' 4x4, or you buy for 'day to day practicality'.

You guys should check out the Porsche UK website. There are a couple of really funny videos there. If I didn't know that the videos were probably conceived in Weissach by Germans, who think irony is like aluminiumy........just heavier, they would go down as some of the funniest video material I've seen in a while.
The one for the Cayman looks like a Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay production - just not as subtle (snigger). The one for the Cayenne would have you beieve that it was engineered in conjunction with NASA, using alien DNA and thinking computers. Which sort of overlooks the fact that it's put together by the good folks at Porsche using photo-copied VW instruction manuals.

I know these things are ruled out by the majority of pundits but what about a few year old ML55 AMG?
They actually look ok(ish) for this type of thing, later ones were reasonably built and you get cruise, sat-nav etc in them: awesome, throbbing, V8 thunder 'neath el hood and so much niftier than an admittedly nice but perhaps too ubiquitous X5 variant?
The Cackyan is only acceptable in S or Turbo guise but having driven one, the quality seems peculiarly iffy, especially given the superb ambience of cousin Toerag's chamber.

Well they did not seem to wake up , it really is a quiet cruiser up to 130 ish so you could hoon it as you pleased without her who is to be obeyed smcking you on the back of the head 
However during highspeed work the fuel tank would be making loud sucking noises
From a standing start you could scare most things away from the lights , and mid range was good although aerodynamics or rather lack of them did not help
I did a lot of highway driving and i guess it averaged 13-15 mpg at best

Well what do Pearly Kings know about Wagnerian motorisation , as i am aware he drives a girly 500 Sunbed .
Mine seemed well put together and the last time i saw her she had covered 105,000 km i really had no problems with her at all , i think the talk of bad construction was all down to the press needing to say something ....

cant remember now Marki - the ML55 is probably something you could only get away with driving here in Germany. You can exercise the AMG motor properly, and on decent roads, can put up with the car's ride. Personally, and I'm being really restrained as you owned two, I do not think the AMG 55's ride was designed to suit any environment where there is gravity. Also, whilst I trust that AMGs may be put together better than standard MLs, they're still put together using mostly the same bits, the majority of which look like they were injection moulded by Airfix.
The new ML, is by all accounts a very good car. The old one....*searches for something polite to say*.... (though I had a chance to put a few miles on an ML55, and it was funny getting something so big to move as quickly as the 55 could move - tempered by the pile-drive ride, and the persisitent worry that said ride would shake the car into its componenent parts). I think Top Gear referred to the ML55 as being as useful as a chocolate teapot on UK roads.
