Maxflow silencer system on your 993?
Discussion
My quest for a Sports Exhaust for my 993 continues!! I've just listened to the 993 Maxflow clip on design911.com's site (not the hooligan supercup!!!!). Sounded pretty good and costs £695.00. The tail pipes look a little in yer face but all in all, looks a possible.
Anyone got such a system and can comment on what it's like to live with? For the money, anything better? Looking for something that sounds throaty under acceleration but won't tire you out on longer drives.
I'd appreciate any advice chums. Cheers

I can't remember who I should credit with the idea, Porsche 996 probably.
But a chap came up with the idea of a bridging pipe between the pipes going into and out of the silencer.
I went with 1 3/8" ID pipe. I wish I had gone a little larger now.
At idle, low gas velocity, the gasses take the shortcut thru the cross pipe giving a lovely burble.
At part throttle gasses go thru' the silencer giving a subdued sound, ideal for motorway, as original sound level.
Full throttle, gasses get some back pressure at the silencer, so take the bridging pipe giving a fantastic howl.
My description of what is happeneing in the silencer is pure theory, but fits with the exhaust note.
£50 job done.

stouffer,
have a look at this address :
www.scart-exhausts.com/ang/produits.php?marque=28&modele=16
having one of these exhausts put onto my RS at the moment by Jaz in Wembley. Steve at Jaz says that the quality of the welding and construction is up there with the best he has ever seen and that they sound superb. Could be worth having a look.
Cheers,
Ben.

stouffer,
i'm taking a leap of faith - my car is in with Steve at Jaz having various bits done to it while I'm working overseas. I had some Cargraphic back boxes for the RS which I was going to fit on which have been " cunningly " made by Cargraphic to only accept their cat by-pass pipes which are about 1800gbp....the system which is going on to the RS is significantly less than this and it is exactly that - a whole system that is custom made. I haven't "heard" it but Steve has and says it sounds fantastic, not to mention as i said before the quality of the manuf. is superb. Not sure where you are in UK but give Steve a call and say that you've spoken to me ( Ben with the blue 993 RS ) and I'm sure he'll give you some more details.
cheers,
Ben.
