My 996GT2 Clubsport has to go

Just in case anyone fancies a GT2 I`ve put mine up for sale in the classified section.
It is also advertised on Stuttgart9s too.
On going bad back forces sale, time to get a fat BMW or Audi
Does anyone have any experence with the comfort levels of the seats in the new M5 or the new RS4. I am looking for comfort & a seat that would give me support on the track.
My back problem is a permanent one to my spinal cord between my shoulder blades caused by a bus years ago and everytime I drive my GT2 the next couple of days are unbearable.
So it is time to move on, selling is breaking my heart.

Sorry to hear the cars got to go. Its a mental piece of machinery.

As well as checking out the M5 and RS4, take a look at a depreciated E55 Kompressor (I've always found mercs to have decent seats, although the merc porbably wouldn't be mouch fun on track with an auto box).

I bet the CL55 AMG is a great drive too.

beautiful car and I'm very sorry to hear of your woe; I'm due to be in the GT2 / GT3 market shortly so will get in touch separately

one thing occurs to me though: have you had someone sensible who knows about decent seats, like Recaro, have a look at the problem?

I would have thought that they might be able to come up with a compromise seat that would reduce the gip you give your back getting in and out [presumably the source of the problem] whilst still giving you decent on-track support; I have a good contact at Recaro if you're interested

I actually also have a slipped disc, and manage better with sports seats because of their excellent support!!

I do believe there is an orthopedic seat for about 3k a pair from recaro which help people with back problems.

No probs, sir, just incase it was of interest as it's a cracking car.

Did you change the discs to Steel mate or was it a dealer recall type of thing?

I've heard there are lots of problems with the ceramic discs, whats your experience?

My problem is that I am 6ft 4ins and 18stones. I have RUF seat mounts on the drivers seat for the extra room.
It is not really the seat that causes all my back pain, in fact I fit in the car really nicely, I believe the whole GT2 package is too unforgiving for my condition.

Time to move on to softer pastures and I wouldn`t mind the extra room of a larger car as I have to visit Switzerland on a regular basis, thats why I am truly interested in the RS4 & M5.

PCCBs are rubbish, I have GT3 Cups on the front and new special order Alcons on the rear.
My GT2 really stops, with the PCCBs I had no confidence.

Henry, i sat i have driven the new RS4 and it is a lovely machine however the seats are pretty much the same as the GT2 seats. a very high side to get into but once in they fit very well. well they fit me, 6foot and 14 stone.
Good luck with the search and i hope you find a nice comfy GT.

test drove an RS4 at the weekend with RS4 seats - they were great but getting in is not easy, once in they clamp you really well but they are tight (as they are intended to be) I am 6'1" and 13 and a bit stone and found them to be fine.

one consideration is that the RS4 also comes with more std Recaro Audi seats as a NCO whcih might be a good compromise for you - they also have more electric adjustment and greater choice of colours and ISOFIX if that is relevant

Re: the E60 M5, you're obvious victim would be AdamT, perhaps you could send him an email. He's tracked the M5 at VMAX as well so is in a good position to comment on road and track comfort. Having said that he is built slightly differently to you.

M5 does look good. Audi said Black RS4s are very hard to get hold of, something to do with their megga advert no doubt!
I can have a Red one if I want.
Time to start test driving.

Henry, there is a black one available at devonshire...not too far from you...get over to www.rss246.com find the RS4 B7 forum...lots of chat on test drives and availablity of seats...I found the standard seats firm enough myself....Good luck

I have spondylosis ( degeneration of the spine ), best things for me have been Pilates ( like Yoga, great eye candy class and teacher ) and keeping my weight down ( hard when you can't do so much exercise )

Sorry Ben....was only trying to help...honest Not much around on the RS front unfortunately....funds set aside for when the right car appears feels like Xmas may arrive sooner....
