Sorry for posting such a humdrum topic !

My 993 is sitting on the driveway dead as a Dodo, with almost no charge left in the battery. I bought a charger from the local Motaman, the portable kind that is itself a big battery, but I just can't seem to get any charnge into the feckin battery. This blinkin thing looks like the portable charger that my mechanic has used before to charge up the abttery.

Any suggestions ? I know it's common problem.

A battery that is close to dead will take a long time to charge. The charger will also probably not enjoy being left outdoors overnight (mine tends to shut off if it gets too damp but is fine the next day) so you may need to extend its leads from inside the house/garage or put it inside the car.

If it's not a sealed battery check the electrolyte levels in the cells and top off with distilled water as required. Any idea how old the battery is?

batteries can fail completely. just got my ride-on mower back after 3 months, winter service and fix short that was draining the battery. short not fixed so after leaving in shed for 2 weeks the new battery was just as fd as the old one. meanwhile the grass just keeps on growin'
