Daz - who did you use for your driver training?

I'm going to book a day and can't make my mind up who to use.

Any other recommendations? I'm just after road training at this point, rather than track or airfield.

Yeah, might do half a day with them too and see where I'm at...

I just think it will depend on the individual instructor and if we 'gel'. I have this mental image of some 60 yr old with a beard sat next to me being a patronising s*d. This will not be tolerated . I want to improve but not be patronised !! Probably all in my head, I've heard they are all good guys...

Are you talking on road or circuit? If on circuit I can recommend Mark Hales (see my review on the pistonheads front page).

Andy Walsh at www.carlimits.com is very good (ex test driver for bennetton F1) and a fair whack cheaper than a lot of the other instructors.

gt2 drivers use drivetrain uk - jeremy palmer 07976 425015... all others are expensive imitations.

I used Don palmer for a road course last year. Full day and learned loads. Will most probably book a course with him at brunters.

no... the guy i hunted down i feel was asking too much for it for what i thought it was worth. looked at another option but decided against that too. found myself in the aston dealer at the weekend looking at a cancelled order amv8 sitting there all nice and shiny in the showroom, but just not sure on that front. was back in the porsche dealer this afternoon and decided that porsche is the only way to go. currently considering a cancelled order 997 4s, but may jump back to a gt3rs. my wife is telling me the track car is a stupid idea. with baby 2 dropping in june she has advised me i won't be getting much track time this year. however i'm sure if i upped her allowance i could do what i wanted.

i take it you want a lesson as you've had a 'moment'?

Not really, the only time I've had it out of shape has been on track so far. On the road it has behaved itself perfectly. I just feel a bit of training might help me get the best out of the car and enjoy it even more.

How about an AMV8 and a cheaper Caterham for track work?

Had my half day with Steve from Ride Drive this morning. Very useful, I would recommend it. I didn't feel I learnt anything particulary ground breaking, just lots of little bits here and there that add up to a smoother drive and more balanced car.
