Most rear seat room

Sorry to ask such a practical boring question, but:

Which Porsche has the most rear space for passengers? My wife and I are both tall, and the kids are coming up 3 and 4. The reality is that many trips will be made with a full complement of seats used, and the more room in the back, the more the car will be used.

The car in pole position, and at the top of our budget, is a 964 Targa, for the convertible feel combined with safety and not too much buffetting in the back seats. But I have a soft spot for the 928, and it is rather cheaper, to buy anyway

I realise this isn't the ideal way to choose between Porsche models, and it isn't the key factor (those are driving pleasure and styling) but now that the SWMBO is coming around to the idea of a Porsche, it would be nice to present some evidence of practicality

Supplementary question. How easy to install 3-point inertia belts in a 944 S2 or 928 S4? Anyone on the forum done it? Any advice on car seats for bigger children appreciated too

If you're tall, there won't be a lot of rear seat room left at all. The 944 rear seats are similar to a 911's. Fine for an adult if there's a short adult in the front seat, but tall front seat people mean legless dwarfs only need apply for the rear seat space. Big advantage that 944 has over 911 is rake of rear screen... this makes a 911 uncomfortable for tall adults.

Best Porsche for rear space will be Cayenne. Not sure about 928 as never owned one.

Inertia reels should be able to be put in back by tech, I'm sure.

Inertia reals shoulr be fine - the mounting points are there. I put non inertia adjustable ones in mine quite easily.

Tried the back seat of my 944 turbo the other day in comparisson with a 997, there wasn't alot in it - neither would be suitable for adults (997 was worse due to headroom) but my kids 3 & 5 are fine in the back of the 944. The trick will be finding booster seats that fit the shaped seats especialy when the new laws come in requiring the small ones to have boosters with backs.

I'm 6'4" and my wife is 5'10" and we have a 16 month old son, who is a bit smaller!

I own a 964 Targa as well as an Audi A4. We own one child seat, a britax ISOfix thing which simply doesn't fit into the 964 rear seats. However it fits very well into the front seat, consequently any family trips in the 964 involve my wife sitting behind my son, with head bent accordingly.

We decided not to splash out on a child seat for the 964 simply because we have the Audi for such family duties and we rarely use the Porsche for family trips, it's really my weekend / fun car only.

Having said all that, I'm planning to put the 964 up for sale in a few weeks, so let me know if you're interested.

My 12 year old daughter is about 5ft 4, and has her head just touch the rear screen in our 964. I'm contemplating removing the padded bum seat for a couple of inches extra, though I doubt it will be much use.

928 has easily the most rear space but headroom can be an issue, I'm 6'3", its better without a sunroof but these sun roof delete cars are hard to find. I have 5 and 8 year old children a 964, 996 and 928 and previousley drove a 968. Next best is the 996.
