am very close to buying a boxster s (987). the price was 39999, but after mild haggling, has now been dropped to 39000. not familiar with haggling with porsche.

is this figure likely to be dropped further if i'm persistent???

It's a typical amount - what age is the car, one of the first on a 54 plate at a guess. I know of a black 05 one with full black leather and navigation, done 14000 miles; car is at an opc for £42900 but they will take £40500 for quick sale. It's on Carrera 19"s as well.
They also have a basic S in Arctic silver on an 05 plate with 9000 miles up for £39900 but will take £38K for a quick sale; first one is in the showroom, the latter is in prep. Let me know if you want to talk to someone at a London OPC.

OK, can better the rate. Phone Ladislas on 0208 987 1718 or Simon on 0208 987 1732 and they will do the following;
Boxster S £40,500
deposit £11000
36 payments £422.
plus balloon.
Puts you in a better car for a fraction more...or they can do a deal on the cheaper car; tell them to look at stock number 506450 and that you want it for £38000, then they can run some more quotes which must be under £400 a month based on the above.
Good luck mate.
