Cayman S v New RS4

I've had my heart set on a Cayman for a couple of months now. the other day though I was walking past an audi dealers and saw they had an RS4. So i popped in. five days later I've driven it and gone wow yep i can find 50K. With two exceptions. The steering and brake feel being non-existent and the understeer.

Has anyone here driven both the Cayman S and the RS4 and gone for the Cayman, or vice versa and if so why?
Practicality is a big issue here by the way.

if practicality has anything to do with it then it has to be the rs4, surely. Had a shot of one myself and was really impressed the only thing was £50something grand is too much for me for an audi IMHO! So decided to stick with my plans and look for 996tt as practicality doesn't worry me too much as i have a second car. If it was one car for all jobs though i might have gone for the audi. Also there was a pretty big waiting list and any car available now was looking for a premium. cheers.

thanks for that. I think I overstated the practicality issue. I guess I meant should I want to drive either one to the south of france then it becomes important to know if I'll boil/go deaf in a cayman.

Did think about the 996tt but annual insurance premium in East london is like a second mortgage also I'm in no hurry for a new car though so can wait for one that really suits my needs.

Two completely different cars imho that can't be compared.

You either need 4 seats, a big boot and 4 doors; or you are looking for a lithe 2 seater sports car with some enough boot space for extended weekends.

Take your pick.

I drove an RS4 the other day and it does have a beautiful engine noise and the seats are nice. It is however way below the performance of my 996 turbo X50 and I know which one I'm keeping in my garage
