Trackday Brake Pads

I've read stuff on other threads about pagids and they seem to brake up if over heated is that true for all Pagid pads or is that Pagids for a different model car
They don't break up - they crack and according to Pagid technical, thats normal. I suspect one of the threads you are on about was one I posted. I have since had so much information to say that this is normal & perfectly acceptable that im not worried about it any more...
Steve
Only from what I have read.......
EBC pads, as far as the Porsche marque is concerned, are not as good as OEM pads, and are more of a fast road pad.
The favourite upgrade for Pork appears to be race pads for trackdayers easily lead in the popularity stakes by Pagid, although some swear by other makes.
Flavour of the month at the moment appears to be RS29's for 996 based heavyweights also used a lot by the more powerful 993's.
Listen to that squealing pork!

a 94 cs running big reds.......you are not going to be short of stopping power,
I would happily run standard pads........particularly until you get to know the car well on track, then maybe upgrade the compound when you are at the limit of what you can do with the car..that may take trackday or two....

Russ, if u dont end up on standard Porsche pads , no squealing, last a little shorter time but well up to fast road and 20 -30 min track sessions ,if ur using the right fluid and maybe Goodrige pipes..........then be aware the Pagid yellows are endurance pads and alittle wooden when cold , so for road use not ideal..........personally found blues and oranges progressively harder and better stopping on TRack days than standard Porka kit but frankly not worth the extra ............yellows do make a big differnce on a long fast track ...............last for ever , BUT THEY SQUEAL , AND CLICK .......

Yeh hear what your saying when yer hit the anchors hardish it does tend to pull yer face off its just that the pads are low and need replacing shortly I suppose it would be a good idea to see what are in it at the moment then just buy the same cos the fella I bought it from new he's stuff (weekend Club racer)
Hello Vic I believe the brake hoses are of the braided type again as i said above the fella knew his stuff, fully rose jointed suspension/wishbones front/rear blah blah I have got a lot to learn about porkers fellas so bear with me and any info or experiences you've had all gladly received

My 964C2 with big reds uses pagid yellow RS29s and for me they're pretty much perfect; they last ages, I don't seem to get the cracking the GT3s seem to suffer although they're a fair bit heavier. Better bite than the standard pads but not as grabby as the pagid blacks. Bit harder on discs than the porsche pads at 2 sets of pads to one set of discs.
Used pretty much exclusively on track but you do have to bear in mind the cold stopping first thing

Mintex 1155's are a good trackday pad, mine have lasted me more trackdays than I can remeber. Ok it's a 944 not a 911 but if you talk to the guys at www.motorsportworld.co.uk they'll be able to tell you whats what and they are cheap! ( they sell pagids and EBC's etc too...)

Nearly as cheap as Performance Braking

I'm trying EBC Ceramic Reds on my C4S and I have to say that they don't have the feel of a standard pad also they don't have the initial feel and surge of an RS29. Apart from that they are ok when warmed up and don't fade on a fast and hard spirited drive. For Spa I'll be putting the RS29 back on!!!!
I rather like the RS29s I've got, but some argue they are too grabby (at least the US guys apparently don't like them). Perhaps it's because they replicate the ceramics I used to have fitted fairly closely. They even have feel crap when cold
Not tried the performance frictions suggested above. Which specific pads do you favour flemke and what do you prefer about them to RS29s/19s?
Adrien - did you manage to cure your squeal?

HI Dan,
I couldn't get out of work until late this evening, when I tried taking a quick blast up and down a "private road"... I don't think I was able to get quite enough heat into them so I'm hoping to bed them properly tomorrow at Combe... if I can get a place!
Cheers -

I failed to bed my RS29s in on the road too. The track bedding in procedure worked ok though on a trackday.
