Anyone done this!? .. I'm getting a rattle which stops if I press down on the binnacle .. like it needs to be tightened or something .. But it'd be nice to know how to loosen it first (without breaking the thing off!)

Gently lever out the microphone cover and the hazard switch. There are a couple of torx screws lurking behind them.

If you Google for "996 obc hack" you'll find plenty of pictures and instructions as the binnacle has to come off to upgrade the switches if you retrofit an OBC.

A quick update , for anyone who's got the SBS (squeaky binnacle syndrome).

I popped the mic and the hazard switch last night and tightened the retaining screws with said torx driver... and today ... not a sound from my beloved binnacle... It's definitely worth a shot if there's noises coming from the general direction of the instruments.
Thanks again BO.
