can be retro-fitted to any car (my brother had it put on an Audi A6 and not by audi) but it does ask the question as whether it is needed on a 911 unless a) you are a rubbish parker b) are blind c) someone else drives the car as well and is dreadful at parking (c) applies to my wife who has bumped her car more times than I can re-call)
Have considered this for my 993, in particular as there is a laser-based parking aid on the market that has the unfortunate effect of interfering with the laser devices used by the scameraships. Obviously the raked nose on a porker means that a parking aid at the front of the car would also be a good idea.
The only thing stopping me is that the french police take a very dim view of such devices, and they already don't like me because I'm a porker driving ros-bif....

I'm in the same position.... Got used to it on old motor and am now even more useless at parking than before.
If I was going to "invest" in one of the many, cheap, aftermarket kits, I would probably be tempted by this:

Got a parking sensor kit retro-fitted to my 997 (some company in Guildford - arranged through the OPC). It's not quite OEM, but still looks OK and is actually less intrusive then the OEM version on light colours as the sensors don't have a dark circle on them. Certainly way better then the 996 OEM ones.

It isn't tricky to do, and most kits look better than the pig ugly warts that Porka fit as standard!
Cost would be circa £300 or so.

I read somewhere that the technology exists (and is just as cheap_ to put sensors behind the panel so they are invisible - reckon that many more would spec them then.
The only reason why they are still visible is that marketing people say we want to see what we've paid extra for - madness!

'Fraid not. It was fitted by Ian Bannings in Guildford, though ( www.ianbannings.com ) . That's all the info I have, but it could be a Cobra Parkmaster system, although the sensors seem far neater than the standard ones you get with that kit.

Doesn't look like Cobra to me as they should have a thin black ring if fitted properly! There is dozens of companies making these devices, all of which are pretty similar.
i fit these and have done 996 turbos and a 997...
the make i use is autowatch and when painted it is a top job

A little off topic, but why is there no technology to allow the sensors to be placed inside the bumper where they cannot be seen, surely its possible to be mounted on the inside of the bumper skin & it not affect operation ?? Even the best ones still ruin the look of the back of the car a little.
