coolant leak, boxster s
Discussion
Hi guys, fairly new to this site and took delivery today of a 2000X Boxster S which is absolutely stunning...
Only problem is after driving it 100 miles home it decided to p**s coolant out all over the ground.(from an area just inside the rear offside wheel)
I did notice that the coolant cap appears not to have been screwed on properly( slightly cross threaded) and there was some coolant in that area.
Could this have caused a pressure build up of some sort? Do you think a hose has gone?
The car has been recovered to a local main agent and is under warranty but I won't find out whats wrong until Monday and as you can imagine I'm a bit pig sick!!
Any ideas to stop me worrying too much until then...
Thanks in advance...

Most likely the cap not being screwed on properly has caused this problem. Remember under heat the coolant is a highly pressurised system. Alternatively it was overfilled or there is a blockage. Either way you've got no worries though as you're under warranty. After this minor teething problem is sorted I hope you enjoy your new car.

Thanks for the input Daz, yes it is my first Porker and a gorgeous car. I was loving it to bits until the point when it broke down. Haven't even had the roof down yet. I really hope it 's a quick fix on Monday 'cos I want to go for a play in it.
I also hope to find out more about the Porsche meets etc..

Hey cavok.
Coolant leak shouldn't be a huge problem to fix. The very worst coolant problems (e.g. Pump etc) can usually be fixed quickly so you should have it back in no time.
2000/X Boxster S. Not Lapis Blue with a Hardtop is it? Could be my old car!
When you get it back - Enjoy!
I really must sort out that "Boxster Boys" meet sometime....

PS1 - There will also be at least half a dozen Ferrari owning PHers there, three of which have the loudest road exhaust systems I've ever heard.
PS2 - Thanks for the compliment on my car. It was worth the wait when buying it and I've got to say it's even faster than it looks.

Hey Guys, thanks for the input,
Don, no it's not Blue, it's speed yellow, not a colour I was originally looking for but I saw a couple and it really grew on me..
JerseyRS, I fly privately and have a Piper Cherokee although it's been sitting on the ground a lot recently due to the weather being somewhat worse than "cavok"!! How about yourself??
Dazren, cheers for the info, 2nd Feb is the sort of thing I'd like to get involved in but unfortunately the wife is taking me to Ireland that weekend to drink lots of Guinness..
Anyway, sitting here on a Sunday morning seriously fed up 'cos I should be playing with my new toy, I guess I'll just read the owners manual again....
