997 BiXenons. Worth the extra £'s?

997 BiXenons. Specing my 997GT3 and automatically ticked lights upgrade - £700+ - as I've done on all my new Porsches for a few years now. Has anyone driven 997 with standard headlights. Just wondering if BiXenons are actually that much better. I seem to remember thinking how good the first ones I drove behind were so I guess the difference remains.
Oops - forgot title - how about something original like 997 BiXenons.

Apologies not necessary. It's a frequently made mistake. I will mention to Ted about changing the coding so it reminds you to put in a title.

BTW. I would go with the BiXenons.

Definitely, the difference when driving at night is almost like night and day! Well worth for safety alone......and they look good!

What are the base ones - are they still xenon for dipped beam (i.e. litronics)? If so then I'm very happy with them on my car. I seldom use full beam, and when I do they are more than adequate despite not being xenon for that section of the pattern.

(I'm going by 996 options here, not driven a 997)

Apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick, but if anything, the bi-xenons on my 997S are too good. Night-time motorway driving can be a pain, as most journeys are littered with "you pillock, you've got your lights on full beam" flashes from the cars I've just overtaken.

Thats interesting - particularly as I doubt you exactly crawl along at night. I'm afraid I'm in pay Porsche as little as pos. mode at moment.

When I bought the RS 2nd hand, the dealer said it had every option (including bi-xenon). I was a bit disappointed when I realised that this wasn't the case, but once I tried them out, I really have no cause for complaint. However the xenon dipped beam is essential imho.

Of course I have no idea how this translates to the 997!

I have a 996 with standard lights compared to the xenons in my old M3 they are really bad.

Get the upgraded lights.

Litronics are an essential option if you plan to drive the car after dark!

What's the rest of your spec looking like?

Are you going for trackday weapon or inter continental missle? Colour?

Just to clarify, what are the options on the 997?

On the 996 you had :

- standard lights.
- litronics (xenon for dipped only).
- bi-xenon (xenon for dipped + full beam).

Litronics were essential imho, but bi-xenon not so.

strange - I though litronics were a Boxster only option, and 911 option was xenons only

Not as far as I'm aware. I have litronics on my car I believe!
