Only driven 2740 miles in 12 months

The 996 is going into Porsche West London next week (courtesy Cayenne - should be interesting) for its annual service and I thought I'd check what the mileage was last year. B*gger me but I've covered less than 3000 miles! Feel like I'm letting the side down here by not using it everyday as it was intended. On the other hand I've loved every one of them. Is it time to trade down as it's not used that much, or maybe trade up to something more exotic?

Quite. If you cover less than (I think 9,000 miles in the year) then you should pay GBP151 only. Make sure you tell them this when you take the car in otherwise they will charge for the standard 12,000 mile service as they will assume you don't know. Remember service people at OPCs are really sales people

The refurbs sound expensive. MY OPC are quoting £80 a corner. They get an independent guy who comes in and fixes them on site. Same guy would probably only charge you £50 a corner if you could track him down.

(PS RMS thread yesterday was funny. Any hint that threads are getting bombed by irrelevent RMS comments throughout the day will lead to the perps being thrown in the sin bin and a blowtorch being taken to their rear main seals).

Camtune charged £50 a corner when they (actually I think it was done externally) did mine a year or so ago. Did a good job too.

OPC Bristol. They have someone who comes to the garage to fix them when needed.

Becareful what service you plumb for. With the 12,000 mile service they check stuff and change consumables - so you get something for your money.

My understanding is the low mileage 'service' from OPC is not really a service but an inspection to make sure things are working as normal - nothing get's changed - oil, filters etc - in my view a waste of money and only for those who really do not use their car for extended periods and they want a peace of mind to know it is still road worthy and safe.

Go for the 12k service and you will have peace of mind, new consumables and make selling on easier with a proper stamp in the book!
