80s 911 Engine Rebuild ?

Hi all,

I can find a lot of old 911 in the traders but I would like to know how much would it cost to get one of these a new lease of life. (taking example of a 3.0 or 3.2 unit)

for example:
- how much is an engine rebuild ? Are there different stage of "refurbishment" ? (from light to complete overall)
- Do the transmission and drivetrain need to be looked at ? Again, how pricey does it get ?

These engines are very robust and don't necessarily need this kind of attention. The most common is a top-end rebuild to fix those cars that have significantly low compression. This is around a £2.5k job as far as I know.
