993 newbie. I am due a 12k service shortly. Would be grateful for any strong recommendations available re indepenedents to trust my new baby to for this and ongoing maintenence. Prepared to travel some distance to get right shop. I'm Sevenoaks, Kent based but would consider most of South east in scope.

RGA, Vauxhall, SW London, possibly a bit far for you but excellent so far for my 944 and now 993.

Another vote for GT1 in Chertsey. Craig & Peter treat my car with as much care as I do (even if it is a lowly Boxster S). Whenever I'm there I see quite a few 993's waiting to be fettled.

I've had three lots of work done (pre delivery, 1 service and 1 extra for new brake discs& pads)there and am always confident that it gets done to the right standard and that they are completely straight up with regard to what does and doesn't need to be done.

Camtune in Godalming.
I've used them for a 24k and 12k service on my 993, very impressed. They will also match tyre prices within reason, handy having everthing done at the same place.

Reasonably prices, you get a thorough run down / description of the work done and friendly too.

I was think of Northway over Reading way. This is an 80 mile drive each way for me but that's fine if they are good. I had heard they were one of the best, especially around 993, and a Northway stamp in the book was a major plus come resale. Any views welcome on this in forum or direct.

PM Verysideways - he used them when he ran 993s, couldn't rate them highly enough

Ray Northway didn't have much time for me when I wanted to give him £45k in exchange for a GT3 though...

Northway - I wouldnt go back after having some fairly large amount of work done and got the same reception as sleep envy.

www.jzmachtech.com - A+ just had some work done buy them Very impressed (having some more done by them). They know their stuff and know how to work on a car. Ignore the expensive comment because they get it done right first time so your not paying for them to put it right a 2nd and 3rd time....

Hi all

My car is due a 12K service but I'm based in Leicester. Any recommendations for the Midlands? I understand that the oil filter(s) are not part of the 12K service but most people change them at each oil change anyway? Also any ideas on what to expect to pay? Cheers.

Northways have always been very good to me but i've never bought a car from them, only ever had my 3 993's serviced there (and various friends with other pork get services there too).

To be fair they are mechanics rather than sales people or 'fitters'. They're great at getting their hands dirty and fixing rather than just replacing willy nilly.
