Carrera GT - why would you bother?

You need to get into a 'rich' mindset.
Also been thinking about this the technology/parts creep is knocking this one. I'm down for the self shifter you mentioned.
Its a case of the 959 factor of having the top of the tree unit and a new technology/design piece item at a given point in time, but it has steep slide in benefit as the 'lesser' units get bits from the 'Halo' model to lift the commercial sales of the mainstream units, All at the expense of those who should not be to hurt by it anyway.
The question in a year or so's time is to choose one or the other of the following: new Turbo Cab fully specced at circa £115,000 and £100-130K (or 997 RS and 25k - 55K cash)in the bank or CGT?

Similar performance from a 959 and far more practical....to carry your bits'n'pieces to your holiday home! Keep it's value better to.
The numbers may be similar - the delivery is not.

Have you been in a CGT? I had the pleasure of an outrageous fast lap at the hands of a Porsche test driver at Leipzig. Before that day, I was not overly impressed with the CGT. It is pretty amazing. The throttle response must be incredible, as the carbon clutch and very light flywheel etc give the internals very low inertia. Hearing it blip up & down the revs is amazing.
I don't think I would buy one at that price, but would love the engine in my GT3!!!

I have had the honour of having been on track in my Boxster S at the same time as a beautiful silver Carrera GT.
I followed it for several corners - enjoying and appreciating this superb, superlative Supercar. I delighted in seeing it take Paddock Hill Bend and Druid's at Brands Hatch before I overtook it on the way towards Clearways...

But really. If you get to have a good nose around one - they are utterly beautiful. And if people look at the dash and the steering wheel and think - "Hmmmn 986 Boxster S bits" - stuff it. Its nice to know that if I win the lottery and can afford one I'll feel right at home...

If you have heard the GT being used in anger it is a monumetal sound...real spine tingling stuff.
I love this car and if I ever ever get lucky enough to afford one... I would not hesitate.
911 Turbos are fantastic and I hope Porsche keeps evolving the 911tt for a long while yet... sure they will make it faster than a GT eventually if not already... but that GT is (for me anyway) a bit of motoring magic.
If anyone has one and would like to lend it to me for a quick go (say to Nice and back) that would be nice...

Are you 911 boys bothered about the CGT because it is/was the Daddy of the range and the fact its engine is in the proper place?

0-60 times are such an outdated concept with modern sports car, it doesn't give you any really comparison of a cars performance these days. 0-150 should be the standard quote, and then you might appreciate the difference on paper.
