993 - is a 6k service some one elses 12k?

Looking to get my new 993 serviced in next coupke of months. Just needs an annual as she had a full(48k) last time - prior owner. I thought there was only a 12k, 24k or 48k and was looking round for advise and prices before commiting. JZM are highly recommended and looking attheir site they offer a 6k service for £270. Seeing other asking £400 ish for a 12k as JZ do but also have good guys like Northway quoting £205 for a 12k.
Am I missing something here? Assumed a service was to a set Porsche schedule so little scope for variation other than fluid choice and origination of some parts?

They always serviced my 928's.
Keith Addison is a lovely chap and they have a wealth of experience.
They were always interested in the 'not new' cars.

P.S. Just returned to the family with what my wife terms my 'mid life crises' a 1997 993 Carrera S2. Which I am just starting to enjoy in the South of France. No jams, basically no traffic away from the coast.

P.S. Just returned to the family with what my wife terms my 'mid life crises' a 1997 993 Carrera S2. Which I am just starting to enjoy in the South of France. No jams, basically no traffic away from the coast.
Oil is a surprisingly expensive part of the service, as you know the 993 holds a lot of oil and it's best to use the expensive stuff. Cheaper services will use stuff like Magnatec which IMO isn't appropriate.
Also, if the cheaper service leaves stuff out, ensure that it doesn't leave out any of the checks - it's always better on a 993 to be told of an impending problem early (and be able to fix it at your leisure) than have a component fail. Things like steering racks, suspension arms, dampers, brakes, clutches etc. can be a lot more costly to repair after failure than renew before failure.
Personally, given the reliability of the 993, I wouldn't try to save 100 quid on a yearly service by not performing service items... they are cheap cars to run anyway and I'd rather see more well maintained 993s on the road!
