Would anyone by 2nd hand from an OPC?

I am wondering if should consider OPC when buying a 2nd hand porsche?

I assume they charge a premium over specialist dealers and private sales.

Are there benefits from buying from OPC?

On whole will the car be of better quality?

Yes of course - for the right car.

You'll pay a premium, but you can sometimes still negotiate a good deal - particularly towards the end of the month.

OPC cars have to be prepared to a pretty high standard and come with 12 months extendable warranty.

my first 996 cost me about 3k more than i could have bought it for privately.

it was hoever in immaculate condition, freshly serviced and with a full warranty plus dealer support.

the second gear syncro went at 42k miles and the dealer could not have been more apologetic with a £12k gearbox supplied quickly and a loan car provided without asking

I guess i could have saved £3k but for me I saved £9k by buying from an opc

I can cope with running costs but depreciation fks me off.

There's better deals to be had, and I like to 'do a deal'.

They have the best cars and you get total peace of mind, but boy will you pay if you have to re-sell quickly. If you tried to sell it back to them a week later you'd probably lose £5K on a £35K car. Maybe more.

I have bought three, one from independant, two from OPC.

The independant sold me a C2 with no gas in the air con and a sticking clutch.
Although he admitted it was his to fix i never got the money from him. I was younger then and he was a slimey arse*ole

Bought a turbo from OPC and they included a free service (which they then tried to have all the brakes done at my expense) - they did the brakes but because i had not agreed to it, i refused to pay...eventually they dropped it.

Bought a GT2 from OPC and the clutch started slipping in the first week of ownership, they replaced it no quibble.

Overall because i keep the cars for a long while i enjoy buying from OPC, they have great facilities and some of the best cars. You get probably the best insurance of something actually getting fixed when you discover it.

One thing i have learned though... check the car yourself, it may feel odd to do that but once the cash has been handed over like £65K for the GT2 you are on the back foot.

most opc's will do a variable rate base plus 2% if pushed which equates to mortgage rates and in my experience is about as low as you can go.

i bought 3 996's off opc's. I lost 3k on the first after a year, 8k on the second after a year, and 3k on the third after 9 months (but this was a 5% drop). I think this goes to show that its always worth negotiating and buying the right car. The only one I begrudge was the 8k and thats because it was a pre facelift cab at the start of the summer just before the new one came out, but still you learn.
