scratched my car :(

scratched my 996 yesterday whist washing. Nothing major and my own stupid fault with rear wiper blade.
Do I just scrub away with T-Cut or is there anything else anyone recommends?

Dont use T-Cut - its too abrasive. Just use an ordinary car polish (not a wax) and be gentle. You could also try a product like meguiars scratch-x or one of the 3M products that dealers use for the same purpose.

3M finesse it is a nice gentle cutting polish - T-Cut is ok, but just dont use too much force if you use it as you can break the lacquer.

Rub in the direction of the scratch (ie along it in both directions) then across it.

Finish it off with 3M perfect-it or similar - should't bee too hard if it's just a lacquer scratch.

I've done the same on mine. Can anyone recommend a repairer / decent bodyshop in the Warwick area?

Can you feel the scratch with your fingernail ? if yes, chances are it's too deep to polish out irrespective of the product you use.
I take it the scratch was caused by the tip of the rear wiper when the blade itself "flipped over" and scratched the 1/4 panel ?

I found some scratches that almost looked like someone had keyed mine in the weekened. Fortunately autoglym super resin polish took them out after some effort. Back to being pristine again..

Try the super resin polish as it's very light abrasive, before trying cutting polish.

Think you'll be suprised how much does actually polish out.

Exactly that too. Mine has gone through the lacquer and the paint and looks hideous. It's not going to polish out...

I've seen it happen at an OPC to a new (and at the time undelivered) car
I seem to recall a thread on Rennlist debating it.
Unfortunately it's a bodyshop repair job. As Captain Darlings diary said................bugger

Just done a search on Rennlist, you gents are seemingly in good company !
Suggestions vary between ditching the rear wiper altogether (possibly not practical in the UK ?) to either putting a small black cable tie or insulation tape around the wiper arm and blade to remove its ability to articulate into a position whereby it can wreak such havoc on the paintwork. As for me ? I've got one of those stripped out, no frills GT3 jobbies which doesn't have a rear wiper anyway....................
