Tracker

Looking to purchase a 996 in next fortnight (or ASAP!!!). I need a Tracker for insurance purposes. Can anyone recommend a decent agent for fitting the Tracker. Does it need to be fitted by an OPC? What devices are recommended and likely costs?

I have my Cayman insured via the Porsche scheme that the OPC can give you a form on. It is underwritten by Norwich Umion and doesn't require a tracker system if the sticker price is under £70k.

Not sure what the quote would be compared to the Co's that want a tracker but it's only the cost of a phone call.

I use a guy who has fitted trackers on every car i've had, he's reasonably priced but most of all I trust him working on my cars. He normally comes to me and is based in SE. London/Kent areas.

Are they actually any good.

A girl I know go carjacked on the M25 near South Mimms, losing her nearly new X5. She contacted the police pretty quickly, but despite the car having a tracker it wasn't recoved until 6mths later when it turned up in Spain.

I spoke to RAC Tracker and said that If I was stealing a Porsche it would be a professional job and to order probably to leave the country so the first thing I would do as a Professional thief would be to find the Tracker and being the consumate professional I would know every place to look inside & out cut the wires and there yer go Good bye car and good bye £500 worth of Tracker and I'm afraid they agreed because the Tracker doesn't send a signal to say that it's being tampered with So I told my Insurance about this and they actually agreed and waived that clause in my policy but they did raise the theft excess to £750 but I did say that I'm about to have a Snap on / off steering wheel fitted
