Spark plug change

My tt goes in for its 48k/48 month service Friday and with only 28k miles on they said the spark plugs are optional.

I don't want to make a false economy but it seems to me if those plugs have 48k's worth of sparks in them* they aren't used up yet so there's no point in spending 500 rubs getting them changed.

What does the panel think? Are the plugs time as well as usage dependant?

According to the official handbook it should be every 4 years/mileage dependent which ever comes first so really its your call..personally i would leave them coz if the car was 4 years old with 1000 miles on the clock would the plugs be knackered?

although I change 'em every 12k which works out every 18 months or so
just to keep the car in tip top shape !

My 3 year old C4S at 36k has just had them changed under the OPC's fixed pricing, so new plugs +labour=£161

leave them, you can always have them done at the next service.

Yes the turbo plug change involves a lot more work as I understand it.

Well just to clear up the thread, service done, spark plugs changed. Turns out the information given to me by one OPC was wrong. Cambridge OPC quite rightly changed the plugs since they're supposed to be done at 24k.

For the record they seem to have done a great job. The car is going quite significantly better than before, not sure why because there were no faults found. I guess the plugs needed doing, airfilter might have helped, and I suppose they reset the ECU which has allowed it to tune in to the BP ultimate fuel.

But overall pleased with the service I received.
