GT3 Roll Cage

How much would I be looking at to add a rear cage to a Mk1 GT3 ?

I've been looking for a good example for a while and found a car I like but it has no rear cage - something I was keen on having as I intend to mainly use the car for track days.

The interior of this car is also a bit boreing ! - is it posible / whats the cost of adding the large alu or carbon pack to spice it up a bit ?

From memory I think its roughly £800 if you buy new and have it installed for you. One went on ebay a lot cheaper recently so might be worth keeping an eye open.

As for the Ally pack, im afraid I don't know but im sure someone else will!

Oh yes .......... and a set of harnesses ?

I think it's about another £250 per side for harnesses, the mounting bracket, harness bar etc... To fit the cage, you need to remove the seats, lift the car on a ramp, etc because of the awkward angle the cage is rotated into the car.

Errm well my own personal opinion on this is that a lot of GT3 owners track their cars so most prospective buyers will look for a cage and harnesses (well I did anyway). As for residuals well - it can be removed so I doubt it will make much of a difference to the price...

Harnesses will cost you around £500 each side.

You will need bucket seats to fit a cage. make sure the car has these or the whole lot will cost over 2.5k

Wasn't this the same car they had for sale 6 months ago? Why did the last owner have it for such a short time?

not sure we can jump to that conclusion. i looked at one in there 6 months ago, same colour, original wheels. if it is the same car the mk2 wheels could be a way to hide the fact its the same car...... maybe.

It's more than that. The sub bar & spacers are about 130 quid inc vat by themselves. The harnesses are then about 230+vat each if you get the correct Porsche fittment ones.

That's exactly why I remember it... IIRC, they swapped Mk2 wheels onto it just before it sold. It also had a BMC filter at the time?

If it's IRIS BLUE Mk1 GT3 it might well be the one that got crunched at the end of the Lavant straight (Goodwood) a couple of years ago. The owner was getting some practice in just before the GT3 Track day.

Repaired well but they never drive as well as an undamaged one IMHO.

talk to john at specialist cars he will sort you out get a full cage it looks and drives better
