2003 Boxster S service interval

Hi there,

Can anyone help me on the correct service interval for a 2003 Boxster S? According to the original service details I think the 2003 model year had an interval of 12,000 miles or 12 months (whicever is soonest), however a friend has a 2.7 Boxster (2004 model year) and believes the interval on his is 12,000 miles or 2 years. Both cars are the same 986 shape so I'm confused as to why they should be different -anyone know why?

My car doen't need the service on the mileage basis but is due it on an annual basis if it is only a one-year interval. Any help much appreciated!

Your friend is correct, the 2004 model year cars have a service interval of 12000 miles or 2 years,where as previous model years are annual services, However cars that were registered in the later half of 2003, 53 plate onwards are also classed as 04 models. The easy way to find out would be to contact you local OPC with you vehicle details and they will be able to confirm you service requirements.
If you go onto the Porsche website and look under service menu it will list all the service requirements for all models. Mine is a 53 plate 04 model year with service requirements every 2 years, but I couldnt tell you why the intervals on the 986 changed.
